DIY Idea: Reusable gift bags

It is time to start wrapping gifts in many homes these weeks. I dislike the idea of wrapping them in paper which ends up in trash. Reusable gift bags are a good alternative. Using cotton fabric table clothes bought at flea markets are especially environmentally friendly option since the production of new cotton fabric is a controversial issue.

Simple, flat drawstring bags are easy to sew, easy to store and easy to iron. Sew a small pocket for a gift card.

Gift bags for wine bottles are more complicated to sew, but environmentally friendly when made out of recycled shirt sleeves. Please see my earlier blog post tutorial here.

You will also find a couple of wine bottle gabs in my Etsy shop.
